Greg Morris accepts UNLV’s prestigious Alumni of the Year award

by | Jan 8, 2020 | Award

Attending college and graduate school can allow people to network and develop their intellectual capacity in the pursuit of a future career.

Recently, Greg Morris, who attended the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) for undergraduate studies, and graduated with high honors with a degree in English, returned to the school from which he matriculated to accept a prestigious award.

A continuing legacy of excellence

After graudating from UNLV with a bachelor’s degree, Greg Morris chose to build on his undergraduate degree from UNLV by attending the University of Texas School of Law. After graduating with his Juris Doctorate, he eventually returned to Nevada to practice a combination of estate planning, business succcession planning and probate law.

Like many new lawyers, he worked hard to gain experience with other law firms for several years. In 1992, Greg established Morris Estate Planning Attorneys, a firm that strives to offer clients cutting-edge knowledge and practical, hands-on solutions to estate planning and probate issues.

Greg Morris maintained connections at UNLV

As a practicing attorney, Greg has continued to give back to the school that set him on his path toward success. He has been a member of the Planned Giving Professional Adviser Council since 2002 and the UNLV Foundation Advisory Board since 2011. UNLV has previously named him the UNLV Foundation’s 1998 Charitable Planner of the Year and given him the Foundation’s Chairman’s Award.

Greg Morris is not just someone with ties to his college. He is also a respected professional in his niche area of law, publishing pamphlets with the State Bar Association and offering lectures and presentations for other lawyers about this complex and underappreciated area of law. His work in law and his advocacy on behalf of UNLV are why the school decided to name him as Alumni of the Year for 2019 at an award ceremony in November 2019.

Greg Morris is a passionate advocate for supporting UNLV. He also practices what he preaches. Two of his sons, Taylor and Zachary attended law school at UNLV and have joined Morris Estate Planning Attorneys as practicing attorneys. This most recent award is merely recognition of his drive to improve the school where he matriculated and give back to the state that has been his lifelong home.
